1、控制好电压、电流。上面说过，过大电压或电流容易导致蓄电池鼓涨，所以要控制好电压、电流。
　　2、尽量控制好充电时间，不让充电时间过长，防止过充。
　　3、选用较好的充电机或者经常检查发动机上的发电机，一旦发现问题，及时检修或更换，避免造成蓄电池鼓涨。
　　4、在充电过程中，要保证各接线点牢固，因为接线点松动的话会产生火花，这就为蓄电池鼓涨造成了隐患。

　　5、通气孔保证及时畅通。在平常的维护保养中，及时清理蓄电池周围的杂质。
　　6、提前查看蓄电池外壳是否有裂痕、电解液是否渗漏。因为电解液一旦渗漏，其有可能会渗透到电缆或电路中，从而造成连电现象，产生火花。
　　7、及时排除蓄电池内部短路和电极板硫化。蓄电池内部短路会产生火花，从而引爆氢氧混合气体，而电极板硫化则会使得蓄电池内部产生大量气体。所以，平常我们应该及时检查蓄电池内部是否短路，是否有硫化现象。
　　8、禁止在蓄电池的正负极柱上用金属物如电缆等打火，这样容易引起空气重的氢氧气体发生爆炸，严重者甚至会危害到人身安全。
　　9、检修用电设备时应先将蓄电池内部的易燃气体排除，因为在检修用电设备时，难免会产生火花或者是导致蓄电池有较大电流产生，而这也是一大安全隐患。
　　10、及时检查电解液量的多少及密度。这样会在很大程度上保护蓄电池，防止蓄电池鼓涨。
　　11、起动发动机时，尽量避免长时间连续起动。
