Minerals accounted for more than 80% of the total exports, but the exports of manufacturing and packaging industries increased significantly, increasing by 22% and 20% respectively. Imports were US $9.223 billion, up 6.39% year on year. The main imported products were fuel oil, machinery, vehicles, pharmaceuticals and steel. The trade deficit was US $1.998 billion, down 4.13% year-on-year.
Zimbabwe's top five trading partners are: South Africa (US $5.732 billion), China (US $2.651 billion), the United Arab Emirates (US $2.138 billion), Mozambique (US $684 million) and the Bahamas (US $469 million).
China has overtaken UAE to become Zimbabwe's second largest trading partner. China is Zimbabwe's second largest source of imports (after South Africa) and third largest export destination (after South Africa and UAE).
