MSDS 的英文全称为 Material Safety Data Sheet——直译为“材料安全数据表”。由于化学品运输基本都需要提供 MSDS 报告，MSDS 报告基本都是针对化学品的，因此也叫做“化学品安全技术说明书” 或“化学品安全说明书” 或“化学品安全数据说明书”叫法不同，实质一样。国外尤其是一些欧洲国家习惯叫做 SDS（Safety Data Sheet）——安全技术说 明书——把 Material 去掉，感觉范围更大，因为事实上不仅仅是材料 Material 才需要，含有某些材料 Material（特别是含有化学材料的）其他产品也需要提 供 MSDS，所以叫做 SDS 似乎更准确。也有人说 MSDS 是以前很普遍的叫法，现在基本都改称为 SDS 了。 总之，无论 SDS 还是 MSDS，所指的都是同一种文件。
