在蓄电池充电过程中,板栅和活性物质的接口上形成非导电层,这些非导电层或低导电层在板栅和PAM界面引起了高的阻抗,导致充放电时发热和板栅附近PAM膨胀,从而限制了电池的容量(即所谓的PCL效应)。
(7)极板厚度的影响
极板的厚度应属于电池设计方面的问题,一般来说,较厚极板的循环寿命要长于较薄极板,而活性物质利用率相比之下要差一些。但有利于循环寿命的延长。
(8)装配压力的影响
装配压力对VRLA电池寿命有很大影响。AGM隔板弹性差,在组装时,极群不加压或压力过小,隔板和极板之间不能保持良好的接触,会导致电池容量显著下降。
在循环过程中,活性物质的膨胀、疏松、脱落是电池寿命提前终结的原因之一,而采用较高的装配压力可以防止活性物质在深循环过程中的膨胀。若装配压力太低,还会导致隔板过早地与极板分离,引起电液传输困难,电池内阻迅速增大,容易导致蓄池寿命终止。因此,采用较高的装配压力是电池具有循环寿命长的保证。
(9)温度的影响
高温对蓄电池失水干涸、热失控、正极板栅腐蚀和变形等都起到加速作用,低温会引起负极失效,温度波动会加速枝晶短路等等,这些都将影响电池寿命。蓄电池在一定环境温度范围放电时,使用容量随温度升高而增加,随温度降低而减小。在环境温度10℃～45℃范围内,铅蓄电池容量随温度升高而增加,如阀控密封铅蓄电池在40℃下放电电量,比在25℃下放电的电量大10%左右,但是,超过一定温度范围,则相反,如在环境温度45℃～50℃条件下放电,则电池容量明显减小。低温(<5℃)时,电池容量随温度降低而减小,电解液温度降低时,其粘度增大,离子运动受到较大阻力,扩散能力降低;在低温下电解液的电阻也增大,电化学的反应阻力增加,结果导致蓄电池容量下降。其次低温还会导致负极活性物质利用率下降,影响蓄电池容量,如电池在-10℃环境温度下放电时,负极板容量仅达35%额定容量。
通常情况下,若在25℃条件下使用时,蓄电池的寿命为3年,那么30℃条件下使用时,就下降至2.5年;40℃时就下降至1.5年。即以25℃为基准,每升高10℃,其使用寿命缩短一半。
4 光伏系统用储能VRLA蓄电池的设计实践
根据光伏系统用蓄电池的工作条件以及对光伏系统用蓄电池性能的特殊要求,结合上述影响蓄电池寿命的因素,在原VRLA蓄电池的基础上进行了一系列的研究和技术改进,设计开发了光伏系统专用VRLA蓄电池。具体改进措施有以下几方面:
(1)板栅合金:采用了适合循环使用铅锑或者铅镉板栅合金,既能防止极板在使用过程中腐蚀增长,又可消除板栅和活性物质的界面上的阻挡层,杜绝了早期容量衰减。其充电效率和深放电后的恢复性能都很理想。由于镉为有毒元素,现在限制使用。但由于铅锑合金电池失水严重，现在一般做成开口式蓄电池需要定期补水，需要人员定期维护。
(2)板栅结构:采用了特殊的板栅结构,可防止因板栅增长而导致蓄电池损坏,并增加了板栅的厚度,以延长蓄电池的使用寿命。现在常用管式正极板栅设计,有限解决了因活性与板栅之间接触不好的问题。
(3)铅膏:在正、负铅膏中,添加可增加导电性的添加剂,如石墨、乙炔黑等,并改进和膏工艺和固化工艺,提高了蓄电池的充电接受能力、过放电后容量恢复能力和深循环寿命。
